Cycling Season Recap
In looking back over the past season, I can only walk away satisfied with my efforts. Leading into the season, things were looking pretty good. I had a great late winter/spring base training phase and was getting excited to race with my new team, Loon State. All of my plans were thrown out after I was hit by the car. I was sidelined for a month, but as soon as I got my new bike I was excited and ready to go. The other wrench in my plans was switching jobs. A new job always impedes on training time and this time was no different. I race more than I did last year, but not as much as I had hoped. I had a great time getting to know my Loon State mates, and felt that by the end of the season had established some good friendships and proven my prowess on the bike. I was hampered most by my inconsistent fitness and my overly ambitious mind during races. I think having 3 good crashes this year also was a challenge. Hopefully I have gotten all crashes out of my system. My last two races of the year were my best with a 3rd and 9th place finish. I am hoping to do some cyclocross racing and then transition into a strong off-season program that has me focused on strength and cardio conditioning and some weight management. Next season I am going to set a goal of top 10 finish in the ROY competition which will require a lot more racing. Thanks to all of those who supported me this year (most importantly my family) as it was a trying year on the bike for me.
