Too much, Too Fast
So after the long run on Saturday and the recovery run on Sunday I took Monday off. I had to travel for work on Sunday night and I was simply tired on Monday. Tuesday I got up early and ran. I did some hill work and ended up coming down the hill quiet fast. My left knee had been sore from Saturday's run and I think Tuesday just about killed. I took Wed. off and the knee was still pretty stiff. I ran on Thursday and again had quiet a few hill to contend with. I pushed the past for 12 minutes and then took 10 minutes off and pushed it again for 10 minutes. The last 10 minutes of pushing the pace I had some decent climbs and decents to deal with that really pounded the knee. Well, here it is on Friday and I have pain with every step. Going up or down stairs hurts worse.
Now I don't trust medical advice off the Internet, but after readig several sites about knee pain in relationship to running I think my symptoms are most similar to Patellar tendonitious. I don't think I actually have tendonitious, but simply similar symptoms. So now I am icing, stretching and taking anti-inflamatories (aleve). I am also going to switch to water jogging for a few days to keep the intensity down.
